This week I am alternately mourning and celebrating one of my dearest friends. She was rushed unexpectedly on Monday to Sloan Kettering in NYC while I am here in San Diego, doing my best to pretend to myself that life is okay, that she will be okay. She's surrounded with her grown children, trying to make peace with the inevitable.
She has always felt like my soul sister, someone so impossibly close to my heart that when I was going through my latest breakup, she was going through… Continue

Unfortunately, it is a commonly accepted so called truth that the older you are, the wiser. Of course there are always exceptions, some people do get wiser in their later years. However, you can never assume this for each and every person and be accurate. In my life's experience, I've observed people of all ages who are spiritually aware of deeper truths, and those who are still asleep to what truly matters in life.
One of my close friends, who is like a little sister to me, is only… Continue

(this is my second talk on a retreat, I am one of the speakers)
Choices are very important, for they give directions to out lives and allow focus to result. Moments of choice are important for without them life can become something meaningless, leading nowhere, just endless cycles of the same.
Important as our choices are, they also cause other avenues that could have been chosen to be put aside. So there is always a price to be paid when we discern the… Continue

How does one die?
(about a friend who just recieved word he is dying of cancer, things are moving very fast)
Once vigorous in his prime,
now laid low with his disease,
it is the waiting that is the worst;
“How does one die”, he (?) asked me.
“Getting sick was so easy,
it just happen,
will death be like that as well?”
Then there is the anger of being so close to… Continue

I am normally an upbeat guy. I stay away from negative people etc. So this dream is hard to write about. In my dream,
I remember looking down onto a highway. Three vessels came into view. They looked long, and each following one another. Like a train, but more like a airship.
Each was a different color and i heard myself saying, Woe to the people on earth. I was sobing/crying so hard in my dream. It was like everyone i knew and loved died,
(I don't every remember crying so hard… Continue

Achieving Optimum Health
"Optimum health is not just the absence of disease but the presence of wellness in mental, emotional, physical, spiritual and social areas. Some would also include financial health."
Optimum health is essential at all levels, from the individual to the society we live in to the environment around us. We have to start thinking of wealth not just in terms of possession of money and properties but also the possession of mental,… Continue

So, one of my closest friends is in the process of creating a spiritual website I'm helping him with, and he wants me to be one of the writers for the website, and write spiritual articles. Just wanted to share the first article I wrote...
The Magic of Music
Can you think of anything that can almost instantly uplift your spirits when you're feeling down? In a few moments it can change your state of mind from sad to inspired, from lethargic to driven. Few things have the… Continue

Here's an interesting case involving a near-death experience, which was recommended in comments by Markus Hesse. It's quite long but a good read. The link Markus supplied no longer works, and I don't think the paper is still available online.
Published in the Journal of Near-Death Studies, 25(2), Winter 2006, the paper is titled "A Prospectively Studied Near-Death Experience with Corroborated Out-of-Body Perceptions and Unexplained Healing." The authors are Penny Sartori, Paul… Continue

Here's a final download that started the night before last and kept me awake most of last night:
The download resulted from the need to articulate my agreement with what Jeshua said in "Love Without End" by Glenda Green. Namely that the Spiritual Heart ( The physical heart is only a metaphor) provides us with a simple higher intelligence that is often much better at problem solving than the mind - consisting as it does of the physical brain and a surrounding electromagnetic field that both… Continue

Book Chapter in
Visits From Heaven by Josie Varga. By Dr Melvin Morse
The most remarkable lesson that we can learn from children who nearly died is that they are astonished that they are still alive! That is, alive during the time when not only did they expect to be dead, but the doctors resuscitating them also thought they were dead. And not just alive, but bathed in a loving light, a light that “has a lot of good things in it”, a… Continue

Here is the last of two downloads I got last night:
Consider that current Science has seen the Universe consisting of what might be called a "Conservational Field" consisting of a fixed supply originating in the Big Bang. This Conservational Field is constantly decaying toward maximum entropy. Suppose that dark energy is really a continuous emergence of fresh supply originating from the Source. Then the observed fear reaction of the scientific community to an incursion on their… Continue

A dear woman who has been living with cancer since July 2006 today said to me
"phyllida, I am healed , truly healed ...
I have let go the terrible bitterness about my sister, and the blaming of my Aunt for keeping the family secrets for so long.
Today I let go of the bitterness and need for revenge,
I now see THIS was causing my suffering , not the cancer.
Today it does not matter that I have cancer, REALLY , Maybe without it I would not have been able to see the truth… Continue

Have you ever wondered how an "idiot savant" can multiply two multi-digit numbers faster than a computer or how a bird can tell the seeds that are good for it from the poisonous ones or the monarch butterfly knows which way to go in its long migrations? I got a "download" last night that may explain this. I used to think that in the case of the "idiot savant" mutiplying the numbers it was just a case of parallel processing. That is breaking the long, linear steps of multiplication into a… Continue
