I retell my story here because it's my life, I am who I am because of it and it's a good one for me, my life as yours is as well important to share. I believe folks that had experiences similiar to my own or not because I think there's so much more going on than we have experienced even with our experiences. Like sometimes someone will say something obscure that happened to them and it happened to me too. It's so helpful.
I knew that there was another world very young, I have memories at 4 where it wasn't a new thing. I think all kids have this. I also think that we all have that inner voice that advises us of the better option aond I know I've ignored it flat out. My aunt dreamt of her own death, my mother drown with her and had an NDE but was revived and I knew this early on in life. I feel honestly it's all so simple and we complicate it, treat others well, don't be an asshole it's going to come back at you tenfold.
I'm having the hardest time meditating without falling asleep does anyone have advise?
Love to all,
Fran

Comment by sandy partain on January 24, 2013 at 2:10pm For me, I pray. Prayer is a form of meditation and if I fall asleep, It's meant to be. Fran, maybe you need to rest....
Comment by Frances Mary on January 24, 2013 at 2:13pm I listen to youtube meditations by Brian Weiss it's like 15 minutes long but it's really good I always feel very peaceful listening to Dr.Weiss but I'd love to get through his meditation to the very end without conking out lol
Comment by William R. Schuck on January 24, 2013 at 3:58pm My wife works during the day and while she is working I am alone at home. I do research on subjects of interest and when I'm through I will go to my favorite spot the recliner and go into meditation. When I was much younger my mind was filled with activity. It was a problem for me to make quiet. As I have aged I find it easier to still my mind. Today I set down for meditation and almost instantly my mind became quiet. I was taught early on that a person must first make the mind still and hold this stance for as long as possible if they hope for any peace of mind. Additionally, I was taught not to look for phenomena as this will cause the mind to be restless. After four decades I am pleased with my inner work. It is nice to set down for thirty minutes and make the mind still. During this period much of the stress of life is lifted and peace reigns.
Comment by Frances Mary on January 24, 2013 at 4:35pm Appreciate your response William, it's very helpful what you say about stilling the mind. I still need help to get into a peaceful calm state that's why I'm reliant on videos and tapes. I'd love to be able to relax so easily as you do in your easy chair :)
Try sitting fully upright when you meditate in a straight-backed chair, Frances. This should keep you alert.

Comment by Leroy Carney III on January 25, 2013 at 3:48am Hi Fran, I have never really gave a good effort at meditating although I've been thinking of trying it more and more here lately. I read an article some time ago that said to concentrate on your breathing that it is a very important part. It mentioned that you should try to feel all the sensation of the air entering your nostrils and passing into your lungs and to try to get a steady rhythm to your breathing taking real deep slow breaths and slowly get into the rhythm of depth of breath and the pace of breathing that is best for you. I plan to try it myself once I actually sit down and give it a good faith try:P Any time I close my eyes I seem to pass out not to long after:P
Love to all as well:)
